There are as many Tokyos as there are people who live it. The eastern capital is as diverse as the thirteen million people who inhabit it and the myhundreds of thousands who regularly travel through it.

There is one Tokyo in particular, anchored in the 90s, nocturnal and vibrant, that shines under the neon lights of luminous advertisements, while it rains, to the rhythm of incessant bit melodies that dialogue interconnectedly between thems. A Tokyo that tells us stories of androids that dream of retrofuturistic dystopias. This Tokyo, as visited as imagined, which could easily be a reflection of the Los Angeles of Blade Runner or the Midgar of Final Fantasy VII, is the Tokyo seen through the eyes of Victor Alonso.

Tokyo Nights is a visual and sonic experience, not so much documentary as above all illustrative of a vision that, without being sought, ends up imposingitself, born from an imagination that feeds on the popular culture of anime, manga, video games, and retro electronics.

The collection of images collects the work developed by Alonso between 2015 and 2019, and the consequent evolution in the artist's gaze, from the first impressions of the neophyte dazzled by the constellation of neons to the attentive gaze of the experienced explorer, familiar with the terrain they tread to find the small hidden gems of peace in the midst of the city's bustle.

Welcome to the past future. Welcome to Tokyo Nights.
