Immerse yourself in the history of the occult, the esoteric, and the arcane with this illustrated cabinet of curiosities. In Compendium of the Occult, readers will delve into the complete history of this fascinating—and often secret—belief system, from its ancient origins to contemporary practices, exploring the foundations that have underpinned the occult throughout history. Discover alchemy and hermeticism, demonology and medieval grimoires through symbols, maps, archival photographs, and ancient texts.
Across seven thematic chapters, the book examines the use of talismans and amulets, the practice of casting curses, secret societies, and sacred places, as well as divination, rites, and rituals in various parts of the world, beginning with an introduction to occult practices.
