An incredibly cute and easy-to-follow kawaii drawing style, broken down into step-by-step exercises that anyone can master.

A straightforward and accessible guide to drawing people and places in Japan in the charming kawaii style. The term kawaii means cute in Japanese, and refers to a series of adorable drawing styles that have captivated Western audiences.

Annelore Parot, an experienced illustrator and art teacher, has a very personal kawaii style, characterized by cute objects, cozy places, and expressive characters. At the urging of her followers, who had long been asking for a guide on how to draw Japan and elements of its culture, Parot has gathered these exercises in the book Kawaii!: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Cute Japanese Drawing. Each two-page spread shows, in six or seven steps, how to create an adorable illustration with just a few strokes; it also includes a blank space so you can practice on your own. You will be surprised by how easy it is to create lively characters, expressive faces, and evocative scenes.

Parot traveled around Japan in search of the best motifs and now invites the reader to experiment with buildings, gestures, and memorable aspects of Japanese culture. The book covers everything from mythological creatures and animals to typical food.
