The Krvavica Children's Spa in Croatia was a special place for treating children with respiratory problems, built in the 1960s with a unique modernist design. Now in ruins, this book tells its story, weaving together memories and efforts to save it, and exploring how our memory changes with time and social shifts. An adventure through past, memory, and curiosity.

Designed by Rikard Marasović, the Krvavica Children's Bathing Resort, near Makarska, is a legendary 1960s building on the Adriatic coast. Protected as a cultural property, this masterpiece of late modernist architecture has been gradually deteriorating since the early 2000s.

This publication tells the story of a place and the real and parallel lives of a building originally intended for the treatment of children with respiratory illnesses. The book includes interdisciplinary research and texts about the building's history and its architect, presented from diverse perspectives. It also reflects our efforts to include participants in citizen initiatives for the building's protection and revitalization, as well as to give voice to the tenants of the adjacent apartment block, whose fate is intertwined with that of the former spa. The publication's title refers to the ambivalent narration and (re)articulation of recent social and personal narratives. This is a story about the loss of social memory and the transformation of personal memory caused by radical social changes and the consequences of these processes.
