Pomés is a periodical about the life and work of Leopoldo Pomés, a photographer, publicist, and all-around Spanish bon vivant who began working in the 1950s, reached his peak in the 1960s, and reigned for more than four decades as one of Barcelona's most revered cultural icons. He naturally combined his professional success in image-making with a passionate social life, constantly collaborating with some of the most interesting contemporary artists and intellectuals.

When Pomés passed away in 2019, he left behind a huge personal archive of tens of thousands of photographs, whether negatives, slides, contact sheets or paper copies, but also drawings, writings and all kinds of personal documents, as well as an exceptional collection of art, living spaces, houses and restaurants.

When the Leopoldo Pomés Archive, the family archive directed by Juliet Pomés, proposed that Terranova collaborate on a publication about his legacy, it soon became clear that a single book could never do justice to the magnitude and quality of his work. Naturally, we decided to turn the project into an ongoing series, in the pop format of classic magazines, to honor his spirit and share the complexity and richness of the archive with the public, issue by issue.

This first issue of Pomés includes articles on one of his most prized pieces of furniture, his private collection of Polaroids, an interview with his muse, María José Roig, a series of glamorous portraits for Fotogramas magazine from the 1970s, encounters with the writer Julio Cortázar and the painter Manolo Millares, his lesser-known work on men's fashion and lifestyle, and the story of his 1968 family home, designed by the Spanish architects Federico Correa and Alfonso Milà.

The exclusive collaborations for this first issue of Pomés include a mix of some of his contemporaries, such as the writer Eduardo Mendoza, the editor Elisenda Nadal, the photographer Jean Marie Pulm and the architect Oscar Tusquets, with a younger generation of enthusiasts of his work, such as the photographers Adrià Cañameras and Jara Varela, the design historian Guillem Celada, the comic book artist Marc Torices and the art directors of Paris Image Unlimited.
