Written in 1966, art as a trade It has become the great classic essay among all those written by Bruno Munari. This book is a valuable and unique attempt to situate the importance of the "new producers of forms" in the contemporary world in relation to art and the personal experience of our daily lives. With this, Munari manages to make us actively observe and become aware of the formal world that surrounds us while valuing the work of designers, characters who are not only responsible for the creation of functional and aesthetic objects, but also who act as authentic “democratic” shapers of taste.

Full of examples and references to our daily life, this work constantly invites us to stop and rethink the forms that surround us. From the visuality of written or drawn letters to the versatility of a material such as bamboo, through the value of a spoon or steps worn by use, or the brutal contrast between ostentatious European cutlery and the modesty of Japanese chopsticks. , Munari introduces us with the ease and simplicity of the great masters to the great theoretical questions of the disciplines of design and creativity.
