With a critical, satirical, surprising, and amusing tone, «Global Warning» is published in collaboration with the Jeu de Paume to accompany a new and major exhibition of Parr's photography at the Parisian art centre, which will take place from January to May 2026.
Profusely illustrated with more than 175 of his photographs, from his early black-and-white works in the bustling holiday parks and quiet supermarkets of rural England to his more recent colour photographs of tourist attractions and must-see destinations from around the world, «Global Warning» offers a reinterpretation of Martin Parr's work and stance in an era of widespread global disorder.
With a tone-setting introduction by Quentin Bajac, director of the Jeu de Paume, four additional essays by Jean-François Staszak, Roberta Sassatelli, Violette Pouillard and Adam Greenfield, experts in geography, sociology, wildlife conservation and urban design, contextualise the selection of works and explore important themes that are of great relevance to our daily lives.
By showcasing many of Parr's most recognisable images alongside little-known hidden gems, Global Warning presents more than five decades of insightful visual analysis by one of the world's most renowned photographers.
