"Most arrangements go unnoticed, but some stop you in your tracks." Originally published in 2003, Leonard Koren's highly sought-after Arranging Things: A Rhetoric of Object Placement uses the language of rhetoric to portray visual arrangement as a "communicative act: its own form of aesthetic expression akin to a language."
Koren's insightful meditation is summarized in eight rhetorical principles presented alongside 23 idiosyncratic paintings by artist Nathalie Du Pasquier that illustrate the volume. With a welcoming tone, Arranging Things offers an accessible strategy that can be used to analyze any arrangement.
Returning by popular demand, this new edition of Arranging Things presents Du Pasquier's artwork in a generous format to celebrate Koren's visual journey through the heart of design philosophy. Arranging Things is not simply a popular book about design; it is a landmark text, a practical manifesto of aesthetic beauty, one that illuminates and expands how we understand and organize our worlds.
