Carmencita Editions is a collaborative project of four members, following the goal to materialize the poetry of Analogue photography into physical books and prints. The publication series explores the medium’s potential to link individuals all over the world as well as locally in the Valencia community. The series is a response to the complexities of the medium and its potential to connect people, both in the physical world and the digital space, while also being a way of exploring the world through the lens of a camera and the lens of a book. The series is also a way of exploring the world in new ways, and is an opportunity to expand the boundaries of what is possible through the medium of photography.

French Fries,  the third publication in the series, is a collection of the work by Spain-based photographer Paco Poyato.

Despite its seemingly insignificant nature, the french fry has become a symbol of our western globalization. Perhaps its simplicity relies on the key of its popularity, making it instantly recognizable almost anywhere in our society today. Paco’s work captures the transversal signs that surround us and that we often embody without noticing, proving to us that we are all influenced/contaminated by each other more than we would like to imagine.We found in Paco Poyato’s work a common thread that binds all the images together and connect us through changing urban landscapes, youthful exuberance and the habits we know as a global western community. This break from the stresses and demands of daily life, awakens our attention unbidden. Like a bag of French Fries, his work grabs our attention without even trying.
