Snack - The eating and drinking establishment, which has a counter, like a bar. In Japan, it is mainly a place serves alcohol. Its name, snack, comes from the bar which serves snacks. It has various types and there is no set definition for it, but mostly, a woman called "MAMA" runs it.
A photographer, Naoko Yamada, had spent 10 years visiting snacks from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south and photographed the portraits of strong and kind women - MAMA.
As you open a page, you will open a door of a snack and hear a MAMA's riff, and when you finally close the book, you will feel like you had a glass with her. 164 snacks, 177 MAMAs are included.
