En sus últimos años, Conchita, abuela de Marta, recordaba con especial cariño su infancia en Larache, un pueblo pesquero al sur de Tánger. Y hablaba de la harira, una sopa que la nieta nunca llegó a probar en aquella casa. La anécdota podría haberse quedado allí, pero Marta quiso tirar del hilo y alargar la conversación en un universo de personajes tan ficticios como reconocibles.
Con idas y venidas, esta novela recorre distintas vidas que se cruzan entre Zaragoza, el mundo rural y la memoria de Marruecos. Piel de garbanzo explora la familia, la identidad, los secretos y las formas de estar en el mundo. Y lo hace desde una mirada sarcástica y cotidiana que sitúa la cocina como vehículo narrativo.
