Teratarium - Evripidis Sabatis
Teratarium - Evripidis Sabatis
Teras in Ancient Greek means monster, sign, marvel, wonder, miracle, omen, portent. Its plural is terata. A terrarium is a closed and controlled space that can be a fishbowl-style container, in which the conditions of a specific habitat are artificially reproduced to create a small ecosystem inhabited by living beings.
This publication brings together artistic photographs documenting the ceramic sculptures, a foreword by art critic Joaquín García Martínez, and an introductory text written by the artist. Both the foreword and the text are available in English and Spanish.
The book itself is a beautiful tactile object for art lovers. It was designed by the Barcelona studio Phantasia and features a unique characteristic: the cover is located in the heart of the book and incorporates illustrated typography drawn by Evripidis.
